IA play another friendly game at the Akraneshollin tomorrow evening, this time Afturelding make the short journey from Mosfellsbaer to Akranes.
05/12/09.....3-2 WIN TODAY
IA and Valur met this morning in a friendly at the Akraneshollin, and it was IA who won the game 3-2. Valur took a 2-0 lead but IA fought back with goals from Gisli Freyr Brynjarsson and Ragnar Leosson to make it 2-2. The winning goal was scored by trialist Fannar Freyr Gislason who played for Tindastoll last season.
03/12/09.....FRIENDLY ON SATURDAY
Valur will be in Akranes to play a friendly against IA on Saturday morning. The Reykjavik club are now coached by former IA captain Gunnluagur Jonsson who took over at the end of the season.
27/11/09.....DRAW AGAINST KR
IA and KR drew 0-0 in last nights friendly game at the Egilshollin. New signings Arnar Mar Gudjonsson and Hjortur Hjartarson both played in the game.
25/11/09.....FRIENDLY TOMORROW NIGHT
IA play a friendly against KR tomorrow night at the Egilshollin in Reykjavik. This is the first of four friendly games to be played before Christmas, IA will also play Valur, Afturelding and Leiknir Reykjavik in December.
KR have already played a few friendly games over the last few weeks, they won 7-1 against Selfoss and 2-0 against IR.

05/11/09.....HJORTUR HJARTARSON RETURNS

Hjortur Hjartarson (pictured left) is back with IA, the 35 year old forward left to play for Throttur Reykjavik 3 years ago. Hjortur played 98 league games in his first spell with IA, scoring 32 goals. During the 2001 season when Akranes won the league he scored 15 goals, Hjortur is also a sports reporter for the Icelandic TV channel RUV.

29/10/09.....RAGNAR ON TRIAL AT IPSWICH

Ragnar Leosson (pictured left) is having a trial at English Championship club Ipswich Town. He played the full 90 minutes for Ipswich Town Reserves against Norwich City Reserves last night, the local derby ended 1-1. The reports that I have read say Ragnar had a good game and impressed.

IA have arranged three friendly games to be played during November and December, they will play KR at Egilshollin on 26th November. Then two games will be played at Akraneshollin against Valur on 5th December and Leiknir R. on 12th December.

Arnar Mar Gudjonsson (pictured left) has agreed a 2 year contract to return to Akranes from KA. Arnar made his debut for IA in 2004 but only made 6 league appearances, before heading north in 2008 to Akureyri to play for KA. During his two years with KA he played 41 league games and scored 7 goals.

Jon Vilhelm Akason (pictured left) has signed a 2 year deal with Valur. The 23 year old midfielder made his IA debut in 2005 and has made 82 league appearances and scored 7 goals.
He joins former IA players Baldur Adalsteinsson, Reynir Leosson and Hafthor Vilhjalmsson at Valur, whilst Gunnlaugur Jonsson will be coach.
08/10/09.....ICELAND U21'S GAME MOVED

The Iceland U21 team were due to play a European Championship Qualifier against San Marino at the Akranesvollur tomorrow afternoon, but the game has been moved to Laugardalsvollur in Reykjavik because of bad weather.
02/10/09.....GUDJON SACKED BY CREWE

Gudjon Thordarson (pictured left) has today been sacked by Crewe Alexandra after just 9 months in charge.
Gudjon took over at Crewe in December 2008 with Crewe struggling at the bottom of League One, he was unable to keep them up and they dropped down to League Two. They are currently in 15th place with 12 points and ex manager Dario Gradi will take over as caretaker manager.
30/09/09.....THORDUR TO CARRY ON
Thordur Thordarson will carry on as IA coach next year, the former goalkeeper took over from the Gunnlaugsson twins in July on a temporary basis. Thordur was coach for the last 11 games of the season, winning 4, drawing 4 and 3 defeats.
28/09/09.....HEIMIR AND RAGNAR WIN AWARDS

Heimir Einarsson (pictured left) was named Player of the Year at the IA awards ceremony on Friday night. The 22 year old captain played 20 games and scored 1 goal for IA this year.
Ragnar Leosson was named as Young Player of the Year, Ragnar played in 20 games and scored 4 goals.
